So, you bought a digital file— now what?
We hear this a lot: “I wanted the digital file... but I’m not really sure what to do with it!”
Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with simple tips on how to protect your file and make the most of it.
1. Save It in More Than One Place
Think of your digital file like an important photo, document, or negative (for those film enthusiast). If your computer crashes or your phone gets lost, you don’t want to lose it!
We recommend saving it in at least two of these places:
On your computer or laptop
On a USB drive or external hard drive
In cloud storage like Google Drive, iCloud, or Dropbox
(If this sounds overwhelming…we are 99% sure your high school student can help with this part).
2. You Can Print It Anywhere
Your digital file is high-resolution, which means you can:
Order prints, canvases, or photo gifts online
Print at stores like CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, or Costco
Send it to a local photo lab for beautiful, professional prints. Locally, we always recommend Milford Photo.
Tip: Always use the original file (not a screenshot or resized version) when ordering prints — they’ll look much better!
3. Use It Digitally Too!
You can also use your senior portrait file for:
Graduation announcements
Yearbook ads or tribute pages
Posting on social media
Emailing to family and friends
Bonus Tip: Don’t Edit It Yourself
Your photo is already professionally edited. If you try to crop or apply filters, it might not print correctly later. Save an untouched copy of the file just in case.
